Toni Atkins Announces Statewide Tour “Toni in Your Town”

Tour kicks off on Aug. 20 in Red Bluff, Calif., with stops across state

SAN DIEGO, CA — Today, at the opening of her new campaign headquarters, Democratic leader and gubernatorial candidate Toni Atkins announced the launch of her statewide tour: Toni in Your Town. The tour will kick off on Wednesday, August 20 in Red Bluff, Calif., and will wrap up on Thursday, August 28 in Riverside — with stops across the state in between. More details will be released in the coming days.

Atkins spoke about the reason behind the tour (remarks as prepared):

“[…] As we plant our roots even deeper here in San Diego — the place that made me who I am — I’m thrilled to share what’s next for this campaign. Later this month, we’ll be hitting the road for a statewide tour we’re calling Toni in Your Town.”

From rural towns to urban neighborhoods, the tour is designed to spotlight the diversity of California’s communities — and to uplift the voices of the people who live there:

“California isn’t just its big cities. It’s 482 cities, towns, and villages — and that’s not counting our unincorporated areas — and 58 counties. It’s buildings in downtowns and fields that feed our country.”

“This tour isn’t about photo ops or sound bites. It’s about sitting down with folks in coffee shops, union halls, firehouses, and community centers — to hear what’s working, and what isn’t. To understand the struggles and the ideas coming straight from the people living them.”
