“People are tired of rhetoric and politics”: Atkins Discusses Gubernatorial Run on KRCR
RED BLUFF, CA — In case you missed it, Democratic leader and gubernatorial candidate Toni Atkins spoke with KRCR yesterday on the first stop of her “Toni in Your Town” statewide tour in Red Bluff. They discussed Atkins’ roots in rural Virginia, the demand for more responsive leadership, and voters’ common desire to see real results.

In discussing her visit to local organizations and businesses, Atkins emphasized that her background is a driving force for why she doesn’t forget places like the North State.
Below are highlights from her interview. Watch the full interview here.
On her rural upbringing:
“I grew up in a very rural conservative part of southwest Virginia. I have family members who are conservative, so I think it really is about listening. But whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, a decline to state — you still want government to be responsive to you.”
On securing real results for all Californians:
“Regardless of political party she believes in fairness, that people are tired of rhetoric and politics — they want results. She says, people in the North State are used to elected officials not showing up or listening to their concerns, but she believes her background and experience will help her hit the ground running from day one to solve the state’s greatest challenges.”
