The Local Democratic Org Platform

Put an introductory paragraph to your issues page here. It could be about specific key issues the County Party is focusing on or the County Party's values in general.

Tackle the Housing Crisis Head-On

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live. As Governor, I will cut red tape and speed up the construction of new homes across the state. That means streamlining approvals, investing in infrastructure, and holding local governments accountable for meeting housing goals. California must balance smart growth with affordability — building homes where people want to live and can afford to stay

Fix Our Roads and Transportation Systems

California’s roads are crumbling and overcrowded. We must repair our highways, upgrade and expand public transit, and improve local streets that families rely on every day. It’s time to fix our broken transportation system. I will push for faster, cleaner and more reliable transportation options that will reduce congestion and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Whether it’s fixing potholes or expa

Make Health Care a Human Right

No one should have to choose between putting food on the table or a trip to the emergency room. Yet that's the reality many families face. This is made even worse by the Trump Administration as it tries to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, cut billions from Medi-Cal, and ban the right to choose if, when, and how to start a family. California must fight. But we can’t just focus on protecting our care. We must also increase the number of physicians and health care providers in California through better investment in training and recruitment from other states. California should also negotiate to bring down the cost of prescription drugs and other critical health care services.

Keep Our Communities Safe

Every Californian deserves to feel safe in their community and home. I support strong and fair public safety policies that make neighborhoods safer while building trust. We must invest in local law enforcement, support community-based crime prevention, and expand mental health and emergency response services to address the root causes of crime and keep Californians safe.

Protect Our Future with Bold Climate Leadership

Climate change is not a distant threat—it’s here, and Californians are already living with its impacts, from record wildfires to severe droughts. While Donald Trump tries to take us backwards, California must continue to lead with urgency and ambition to reduce emissions, invest in clean energy, and build climate-resilient infrastructure. We must continue the transition to renewable power, support green jobs, and hold polluters accountable all while ensuring California continues to be our country’s economic engine. California can lead the nation—and the world—on climate action, while building a stronger, more sustainable economy that works for everyone.

Protect Our Communities from Wildfire and Natural Disaster

As we fight climate change, we need to take action now to prepare for increased wildfires and natural disasters. California faces growing threats from wildfires, floods, and other climate-driven disasters—and we must lead with preparation, not panic. California must invest in wildfire prevention, including vegetation management, firebreaks, and forest health. We must also strengthen emergency response systems, modernize evacuation routes, and support Cal Fire and local fire departments with the resources they need. Communities hit by disasters like the tragic fires in the Palisades and Altadena must also get the recovery support they deserve. My focus will be clear: protect lives, protect property, and make California more resilient for the long haul.

Invest in Our Students and Raise Teacher Pay

California’s future depends on strong public schools. That starts with supporting the people who make education work: our educators. We must raise teacher salaries statewide so we can recruit and retain the best talent in every classroom. I’ll ensure schools get the funding they need to reduce class sizes, expand after-school programs, and give every student a real shot at success, no matter their zip code.

Support Our Small Businesses

Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies, creating jobs, fueling innovation, and keeping our communities vibrant. Running a business is hard — and entrepreneurs deserve a government that works as hard as they do. Our next governor must ensure that small business owners are not only supported and empowered but also at the table where decisions are being made. That means investing in local growth, cutting through bureaucratic red tape,  and making it easier for first-time and first-generation small business owners to access capital.
